It is still a work in progress, and there is more I would like to add and edit, but at some point you just have to launch and commit to it!

I hope that my work speaks for itself. I don’t want to bang on for ages here about myself, so here’s just a few things you might want to know.

• I’m a Brit, living in the US—sunny south east Wisconsin to be more precise and tropical sounding. After 18 years, I still can’t do an American accent.

• I’ve worked as a freelance illustrator (traditional and digital) for children’s books for most of my career, creating work for story and educational books. With my illustration and design experience, I can take a book from initial concept right through to print ready files, including character development, typesetting and layout, liaising with the Printer, and providing all high resolution pdfs. I’ve worked with both publishing companies and self publishing authors and really enjoy the experience with both.

• I’m a self-taught artist and illustrator. I believe that’s the main reason that my style and technique is very varied. I started my illustration career in a publishing company in Reading, England, where I illustrated digitally for children’s educational books. That experience, plus the many artists and illustrators I’ve met on my path, have hugely influenced my work. I love trying new techniques and combining different styles and finding new ones. There’s been times when I have been advised to focus and promote just one style. But, it’s all me. I like the fact that I can turn my hand to new things, and feel like I’m not stuck in a box of what I can do. It’s been an interesting journey and few of my earlier children’s book look the same regarding style, but I’m ok with that. Maybe that journey would have been different if I’d had formal training, but you can’t change the past, and I’m happy with where I am now and where I’m going.

• I illustrate digitally, with a Wacom tablet and iPad Pro, using Illustrator, Photoshop, and Procreate. I also create art and illustrations using ink, graphite, coloured pencil, watercolour, and acrylic.
